Ginzawa @ Orchard, Singapore

We have read some good reviews about this restaurant and decided to give it a try for Father’s Day dinner.

It is located in the Palais Renaissance mall on Orchard Road, which is a rather quiet shopping mall a bit off from the busiest part of Orchard Road.

Cold Soba with Black Pork and Hot Soup DipIMG_1369

Chawanmushi – portion was big enough for two kids to share. Perfectly steamed.

Ebi Salad – there were tiny fresh shrimps and tiny dried shrimps, nice saladIMG_1364Beef Tataki – very good beef, tender, slightly seared

Aburi sushi set – delicious! I actually preferred aburi sushi when it comes to the more oily fishes. IMG_1366

This is the deluxe version of their chirashi don – a must try dish!! Fresh and high qualify fish and seafood.  They offer it in their lunch set menu but also offer as an ala carte item for dinner.IMG_1360

“House Maki” – caviar, uni, minced toro on top; shrimp and yellow pickle in the middle.  And it is maki size!  Another must try!  Very satisfying!

Salmon skin roll – this was a very pleasant surprise – at other restaurants, I usually would wish they will put in more salmon skin but apparently here is not a problem.IMG_1374

Great dinner overall, not cheap but very value for money.  High quality Japanese sushi always come with a price anyway.

We will definitely come back again as this has become my favourite Japanese restaurant in Singapore! 🙂

Dotonbori 道頓堀, Osaka, Japan

We arrived Osaka in the evening and after settling in Hotel IL Cuore Namba, we headed straight to Dotonbori for dinner.IMG_9296 IMG_9298 IMG_9299 IMG_9300

It was not even 6pm yet but a lot of the popular restaurants and eateries already have queues.  We settled with Ganko がんこ寿司on Dotonbori, it still have plenty of tables when we got there around 6pm but had a short queue by the time we left.IMG_9291 The deep dried dishes were done well.  IMG_9271 I particularly liked this tofu cooked in 3 ways dish. IMG_9282Sushi was so-so.
IMG_9283 IMG_9289Kids were particularly happy with their impressive kids meals.IMG_9278 IMG_9275

This restaurant has a good selection of sushi and rolls.  Sushi were not cheap but were very fresh.  It would be one of the place we go to when we crave for sushi. IMG_6388 Kids favourites…IMG_6384 Cod fish roeIMG_6385 I have started to enjoy aburi sushi…aburi toro was delicious.  Uni was also very fresh.IMG_6383 The portion of their rolls is quite bigIMG_6386 IMG_6387 Grilled egg plant with miso sauceIMG_6381

Wahiro @ East Coast, Singapore

A small Japanese restaurant in the neighbourhood, usually packed on the weekend and best to make reservation.IMG_6231 IMG_6232 IMG_6233 IMG_6234 IMG_6237 IMG_6238 IMG_6241 IMG_6244IMG_6242IMG_6240IMG_6239IMG_6236

Shiro @ Hysan Place, Hong Kong

A modern Japanese restaurant with conveyor belt sushi & no queuing (on a weekday)…menu has a wide selection but only tried their sushi and sashimi this time.  It was a nice change from the traditional sushi place.
