Issaya Siamese Club @ Bangkok, Thailand

This is one of the acclaimed Thai restaurant in Bangkok.  It is hidden in some residential area in the city and best to go by taxi.  Very beautiful interior with a casual ambience.

IMG_0728 BeefIMG_0729 Lamb Shank – big portion for two!IMG_0732

Rice – my favourite dish of the meal, flavourful! IMG_0734 Prawns – juicy!IMG_0751 Chicken – some parts are a bit dry but others are goodIMG_0754 Panna cotta IMG_0758 Homemade marshmallows IMG_0759 A corner of the buildingIMG_0760Food were nicely cooked overall.  Portions are big and we weren’t able to finish everything.  They certainly use herbs and spices but it did not feel overwhelming.

I would recommend this restaurant for a relaxing romantic dinner out and probably even better with a big group of friends!

Batter Fluffy Flaps @ East Coast Road, Singapore

We were always hesitant to try this place for dinner as it looks too much like a dessert place.  But since it is my boy’s birthday and he loves dessert, we decided to try.

Well, the results…the kids were happy (according to my boy, he has never felt so full before!) and we believe we will come back again.

Teriyaki chicken wrap (with pancake) – yummy chicken, good portion size

Pancake burger with egg and cheese

Spaghetti with prawns in spicy sauce…yummy (yes, there are non-pancake dishes on the menu too)

Highlight of the meal – Oreo pancake + chocolate chips ice-cream + crushed oreo….I only got to have 1/3 of these, my boy insisted on finishing all the rest. :pIMG_0411

Bruno’s Pizzeria & Grill @ Tanjong Katong Road, Singapore

A very popular Italian restaurant in the neighbourhood.  Delicious food, generous portion and affordable price. Don’t expect to find a table without reservation on the weekend!

Calamari & Shrimp – fresh and crispyIMG_1444

Beef carpaccio with truffleIMG_1445

Egg plant lasagne

Squid ink spaghetti  with prawns in tomato sauce – spaghetti was al dente; prawns were fresh and juicy

Long Phung Vietnamese Restaurant @ Joo Chiat Road, Singapore

There are a number of vietnamese restaurants along Joo Chiat Road and we chose this because it was full house and with a small queue while others were at most half full.   It took us about 10mins in the queue to get a table.

Special raw beef noodle – raw beef, beef balls, beef shin, beef brisket.  Good soup base, beef was tender and brisket cooked well.

Noodle with pork knuckle and vietnamese sausages – meat was soft and soup base was flavorful but I think they do a better job with the beef.

Almost every table ordered one of these – was good but not the best.

We will certainly come back again for a hearty bowl of beef noodle!

Platypus Lobster Shack @ CBD Singapore

This place is one of the busier spot in the area so we decided to give it a try for dinner.
It was really nice and comfortable sitting outdoor in the evening, without the hustle of the day.

Urchin & Lobster Bisque – could not really taste urchin but there is a nice portion of meat.

The traditional lobster roll with side said and truffled chips – generous portion of filling, lobster + tomato was quite refreshing.

Spicy roasted garlic lobster roll – spicy but not too much but garlic was a bit too strong.
