Our first dinner at Siem Reap was at the very popular restaurant, Haven. I made reservation online a few days before the trip as I read that they are extremely busy. They are very responsive on email and we got our table without trouble.
The restaurant is on a side street near pub street area. We got there by tuk tuk for US$2.We arrived early and they seated us right a way. Very friendly staff. They have three little kittens running around the place with their mommy nearby. They are very popular among the guests.
Their menu has Cambodian, Asian and Western dishes but of course we chose the Cambodian option…
Khmer Noodle Soup – non spicy, with yellow noodle, suitable for kids
Amok with Fish – A typical Cambodian dish. Frankly, I could not really differentiate between amok and curry. Lok Lak with Chicken – kind of like sautéed chicken in oyster sauce, non spicy, suitable for kids Curry with Chicken – very mild compared to the Thai version, tasted very similar to meCalamari – not Cambodian of course but very nicely done Banana cake Yellow bean cake with strawberry sorbet – this is my favorite – very rich yellow bean taste, actually didn’t need their sorbet to go along with it
Cambodian rice wine – this was another highlight – dessert wine that comes in different flavour…we tried coconut-pinapple, orange-green tea and anise-coffee. It comes in shooter portion but definitely not meant to down it in one shot!
