Heard about this famous teochew restaurant for some time and happened to be in the area today. (it is close to home but we have been too lazy to go there by foot and didn’t bother to do multiple bus change.)
It was late lunch hour so some of the dishes were already sold out.
Braised meat platter
Stirred fry kang kong with fermented beancurd
Fried egg with silver fish
Chilled crab!! Crab was very fresh, crab roe was delicious and for just $22! I would prefer this over pepper crabs!
Dishes on our 2nd visit:
I didn’t plan to make it for Chinese New Year but the store bought ones were really too sweet for my kids and oddly that’s one of the very few dessert that she likes…
Thanks to the easy recipe from Christine’s Recipe, I made first ever 年糕.
The texture is a bit different from what I am used to when I was young – hard when chilled, like a block of cheese.
This one is soft and chewy.
Texture still holds after frying, didn’t turn sticky. And kids are both happy with it.
